Medical Treatment During Government-Authorised Travel and Overseas Duty/Leave
Where an officer is embarked by Government or its accredited representative in a ship/aircraft as an invalid and placed in the charge of a medical escort, Government pays the escort's fees for medical attendance during the journey. Government may consider refund claims for serious illness occurring en route during voyages duly authorised by Government where the illness is not attributable to the officer's or family's negligence; petty bills incurred on board are not entertained. The Ministry of Health or similar body may authorise refund of overseas medical expenses incurred on leave or duty where the stated conditions relating to negligence, overseas conditions, use of local health services, notification of the nearest accredited representative, and reasonable diligence, expedition and economy are met.
