Medical Officer Responsibilities for Sick Officers
A Medical Officer examining an officer must examine and treat him and either issue the appropriate certificate or, if admitted as an in-patient, inform the Agency. Where an officer is physically unable to attend, the Medical Officer is to arrange for the officer to be brought to hospital or visit the officer, and then inform the Agency of admission or issue the appropriate certificate. Where a private practitioner's sickness report is forwarded, the Medical Officer may consult the practitioner and issue an appropriate certificate. The first period of excuse duty or light duty may not exceed three days unless the State Government Medical Officer has personally examined the patient, in which case the period may be up to seven days; not more than a total of thirty-one days' sick leave may be allowed on such certificates, and an in-patient may be off duty for a maximum of thirty-one days under Rule 080310.
