Duty-Related Injury — Reporting, Investigation and Salary Protection
An officer incapacitated by injury sustained in the course of official duties is entitled to draw full salary until discharged from sick leave or permanently invalided. The injury section does not apply to a person who is a workman to whom the Employee's Compensation Act 2010 applies. An officer who sustains an injury from an accident in the course of duty must immediately inform the nearest Medical Officer unless unable to do so because of the injury; the Medical Officer reports details as soon as possible to the appropriate Permanent Secretary/Head. Where an injury might lead to a claim under the Pensions Act or otherwise, the Permanent Secretary/Head calls for a medical report if necessary and enquires into the accident. Where doubt remains, a Personnel Management Board considers whether the accident occurred in actual discharge of duty, whether it was due to any fault of the injured person, and whether it was specifically attributable to the nature of the duty.
