Formal Dismissal Procedure and Fair Hearing
Dismissal proceedings require a precise written query identifying the circumstances, breached rules and likely penalty; access to relevant documents in serious cases; opportunity to respond; and, where necessary, a Board of Inquiry of at least three members. The officer may appear, call and question witnesses and receive documentary evidence used against him. Where dismissal is not approved and no other punishment is warranted, the officer must be reinstated and denied salary restored.
