Promotion Eligibility and Criteria
Eligible officers are considered for promotion except those under disciplinary action. Minimum time in post is two years for GL01–06, three years for GL07–14 and four years for GL15–17. Promotion depends on available vacancy and competitive merit. Assessment considers performance/efficiency, potential for the higher post, seniority and previous performance where potentials are equal, written examination and satisfactory conduct. Rule 020602 adds requirements concerning eligible-candidate lists and formal/professional qualification considerations.
