Annual Leave — General Rules and Administration

Public Service Rules

Annual leave is authorised absence for the applicable period. Annual vacation leave is compulsory and officers must not work during approved vacation leave. Vacation leave is calculated on working days. Officers are entitled to leave allowance at prevailing rates. Annual leave may normally be taken at once or in instalments, but leave not taken within the calendar year is forfeited and accumulation is prohibited. Officers must provide their leave address, resume on the day following expiry of leave, and submit an endorsed Resumption of Duty Certificate after returning. An officer may be recalled before leave expires; the curtailed portion is to be taken immediately and not later than 90 days after completion of the assignment. Duty performed during vacation leave does not count against the officer's leave entitlement.
