Deferred Leave
Deferred leave is leave exceptionally carried forward to the next leave year because of exigencies of duty. Vacation leave not properly spent is ordinarily forfeited, but officers prevented from taking leave because of approved service exigencies may be considered for deferment. Approved deferred leave must be spent by the following leave year. The rule provides a narrowly defined circumstance involving premature retirement for commutation of authorised deferred leave to cash.
